Are you interested in a graduate career where you can help people do more, feel better and live longer?

The Commercial teams in our Pharmaceuticals business are constantly looking to build a better understanding of our patients and to find new ways to make our life changing products accessible to more people, regardless of where they live or what they can afford to pay.

We’re looking for commercially savvy graduates who are willing to experience a series of stretching rotations across multiple business areas, including Sales and Marketing. As you work with different Commercial teams you’ll develop a range of essential business skills, whilst also building a deep understanding of the Pharmaceuticals industry.

Develop your career

You will embark on a truly immersive three-year rotational programme that will enable you to gain a broad and fascinating insight into our Pharmaceuticals business. It will also challenge and support you to grow personally and professionally.

Each of your three rotations will be spent in a different Commercial team within your local business so you’ll quickly build up a wide range of skills and experiences.

In the sales rotation, you’ll work in a customer-facing role (sales representative within a primary care team/primary care brand or in some cases in a Key Account Manager role for specialist brand). This will give you an invaluable first-hand insight into how our consumers engage with our products. You will understand and get experience of working in GSKs sales model with high quality sales technique and key account management. You’ll learn about areas including selling excellence, scientific/product knowledge, high effective customer interactions, customer education, sales planning (account and business planning), competitor insights/performance, following territory/account sales performance and analysing sales performance. Most sales reps and KAMs are working in a small team with an extended cross functional team (medical, sales and market access) in which its essential to work according to high standards of Team Work. If you strive for setting and achieving ambitious targets, take individual responsibility and are great at building business relationships, you’ll thrive in our talented sales team.

In the marketing/commercial project rotation, expect to work in areas such as marketing and brand/Therapy Area, localizing global strategy to local, strategic business planning to operational planning. You’ll learn about the elements in and will practice GSK marketing ways to know our brands, gather insights (market research and in/from own customer interactions) and transform into consumers preferences and understand which factors influence overall sales/performance. Campaign implementation and engagement with sales teams incl gathering insights from when a campaign is launched to customers to course correct and measure. There’ll be the opportunity to work on both material in digital and for use as traditional sales force campaigns. In some cases you will be involved in product launches. All this calls for strong analytical skills, an ability to work cross-functionally in the local team and with cluster/franchise functions, building a good understanding of customers insights.

Your third rotation will help you to further develop your understanding of our Commercial organisation and will really test your business acumen and expertise. This rotation might be in a range of different areas, including project management, data analytics or commercial excellence.

Training – and career progression

All learning follows the 70:20:10 learning principle: 70% of your learning takes place on the job, 20% comes from the support of your mentor (a senior leader) and the remaining 10% is from formal training sessions.

Together with your Line Manager, you will build a development plan to suit our business needs, your talents and ambition, as well as, setting you up for success in your chosen niche. Our programme is designed to help you find out where your strengths are and how you can contribute most. You might find that you enjoy the dynamic world of sales, or have a passion for commercial. Alternatively, you might discover a hidden talent for negotiating great deals with our vendors in procurement or understanding the needs of our employees in HR. After you successfully complete our Future Leaders programme, different options and opportunities will be considered, based on your strengths, successes and company needs. It’s up to you to prove yourself.
