Job Overview
FCA Canada is currently seeking Reliability Specialists to join our Quality team at FCA’s Quality Engineering Centre in Windsor, Ontario. A Reliability Specialist is responsible to facilitate and lead quality teams to assist with identification and corrective actions of part failures identified through the analysis process.
The Reliability Specialist must: have proven track records for developing and executing standardization of manufacturing Quality enablers; be a creative problem solver, proactive and steadfast in the identification and resolution vehicle quality; have experience in managing cross-functionally and possess a broad knowledge of the entire automotive engineering, manufacturing and quality landscape and present outstanding teamwork, interpersonal and communication skills; be a high-energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions–a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others; and must have unquestioned integrity.
Responsibilities and qualities of the Reliability Specialist are:

  • Identifying new emerging field issues by analyzing warranty returned material and data to understand failure modes and effects
  • Managing all part return material activities for the Quality Engineering Centre (QEC) area to ensure returned material is utilized to assist with Corporate Quality Initiatives
  • Reviewing supplier testing procedures to ensure evaluations of material is accurate
  • Utilizing corporate data reporting systems to capture quality spills and to ensure clean points are in place
  • Planning, prioritizing, setting goals, and managing multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Having strong communications skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Being able to establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
  • Having a commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the customer
  • Representing the “Voice of the Customer” to platform teams
  • Contributing or driving team success by clarifying expectation and minimizing political hurdles
  • Demonstrating unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
  • Exhibiting a willingness to do things differently and consistently translating ideas into actions that deliver results
  • Possessing strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in team environments
  • Managing day-to-day activities of assigned Unifor personnel
  • Possessing strong communication and verbal skills
  • Being self-motivated and willing to challenge teams on all aspects of quality

Basic Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or other degree in a Technical field
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Strong ability to analyze data and implement action plans
  • Strong interest in automotive industry
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Experienced with problem solving tools
  • Ability to communicate details from Executive level to plant staff level
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work shift hours as necessary
  • Proficient interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada for any employer

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of data analytics tools (SPC, Warranty Analysis Systems, GIMS, eCIMS, PFS)
  • Technical and analytical problem solving skills
  • Creative problem solving ability and a results orientation
  • Comfortable with complex technical analysis
  • Background in LEAN Manufacturing principles or World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and problem solving techniques
  • Internship/Co-Op experience and/or manufacturing, design, or engineering work experience
  • Previous experience working in a union environment
