A modern university with international ambitions

A place for knowledge, ideas, and development. For growth and a belief in the future. In Småland, in the world. Welcome to Linnaeus University.

Linnaeus University is one of the youngest seats of learning in Sweden, established in 2010 through a merger of Kalmar University and Växjö University. It is one of the larger universities in Sweden, with around 31,000 students.

Linnaeus University offers about 150 degree programmes, both professional education and training, and a number of profile programmes that are unique in Sweden. The research spans the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and technology, and includes a number of well-established fields of research, ranging from labour market policy, welfare issues and entrepreneurship to biological sciences, aquatic ecology and wood and energy technology.

Our university settings in Kalmar and Växjö have an international feel and allow both students and researchers to participate in global networks. A number of research environments are based on Småland’s cultural and geographical conditions, and many courses have been developed in collaboration with partners in the region.
